Madge Goods is more than a brand. We're a family of makers, dreamers and doers, and everyone is welcome here.

It started with a problem I knew well. After high school I studied fine arts and spent those years in oversized men's coveralls, practical, but ugly, unflattering, and never made with someone like me in mind. I went on to work as a graphic and textile designer, which is where my love of colour and pattern took hold, and later studied floristry. Through all of it I kept feeling the same pull: to make the jumpsuit I actually wanted to wear.

So I made it. I designed the Stella for a body like mine, with a fuller bust and proper bust darts, the kind of fit that's so often an afterthought. Something I could throw on before a 5am flower market and still feel put together by 5pm, heading across the street to the local drink hole to meet friends and family.

I'm just comfortable in my own skin, wearing what I like, confidently. That's what Madge is built on. I started with my own shape, and I'm now working on extending the range to fit more bodies, because I don't see the Stella as being for men or women. It's for whatever fits you best.

Here's the bigger reason, though. Creativity keeps me happy, connected, sane and alive, and I don't think creative people get the backing they deserve. We celebrate sport and finance, but the makers, the artists, the people who build things with their hands rarely get cheered on the same way. Madge exists to change that, in our own small way. We make for a community as open, colourful and wonderfully different as the Newtown streets we call home. However you live, whoever you love, however your mind works, there's a place for you in Madge.
