Today is the last day of Fashion Revolution Week 24 -30 April, celebrating all those who are tackling the challenge of fairer supply chains.
For us, designing, printing & making as ethically as we can has been a priority in our business plan from day 1. Being totally new to the market and a self-funded family business we are not producing quantity, so finding the right people to work with was a very slow process. We continually work on our supply chain and daily practices to best improve as we can as individuals and as a business as we don't want our clothes to come at the cost of people or our planet.
We design, make and sell our ethically produced fashion locally in Sydney all within a 10km radius of our store front/studio/home. From threads and zips to delivering a bolt of fabric or picking up finished pieces is all done by me personally on the days our store is closed. Having a chat or working something out with our supply chain team face-to-face, has been time saving and we have built some good relationships up. We all need to become responsible for how we make and what we buy, and no-one is or will be perfect but, we need to work towards becoming more conscious at looking after this precious planet.
At Madge, we hope our customers will support and love our pieces, treasure and care for them and understand our pricing reflects our business practice. We choose natural quality fabrics, that are all locally screen or digitally printed in small runs and we make in very limited batches that will never be repeated.
We would like to thank, and introduce some of the people involved with Madge. It is a long process, through many businesses and hands in getting one garment from an initial idea in our heads to hanging in our store to you.
